Business – Frequently asked questions

How do I know housekeepers / cleaners are reliable and experienced?

Every housekeeper / cleaner is carefully interviewed by our skilled recruitment team and we undertake thorough background and identity checks to ensure they have the relevant experience. Only housekeepers / cleaners with at least one years’ recent relevant experience are recruited onto our platform.

How much do I pay the housekeeper / cleaner?

All the housekeepers / cleaners on Top up Talent are self-employed and cover their travel expenses, which means their hourly rate may be higher than an employee. Cleaners set their desired hourly rate and this, together with the maximum a business is willing to pay, is used to match businesses and cleaners together. Currently the majority of the cleaners are requesting between £13 - £18 per hour, depending on their experience. The agreed hourly rate and the total amount to pay the cleaner will be confirmed when we have successfully matched your shift.

How will housekeepers / cleaners access the accommodation to clean it?

You will provide access details when you sign up to Top up Talent, which are shared with the housekeepers / cleaners. If these change, please specify them in the notes section when you request a shift.

How is bed linen and towels organised, when the housekeeper / cleaner visits?

You will specify where clean linen is left when you sign up to Top up Talent. We ask that you leave it by the entrance or inside the property that is due to be cleaned.

I have a welcome pack, toilet rolls etc that need to go into the rooms or property, how do I arrange this?

Please ensure you specify any requirements and where the supplies are when you sign up to Top up Talent. We’ll pass these details onto the housekeeper / cleaner.

Do I need to provide cleaning materials?

Yes, you as the business owner or accommodation manager need to provide all cleaning products. This includes a hoover, broom and mop.

What if I need to cancel a shift?

You must notify Top up Talent as soon as possible via email. You will be charged the matching fee (£5) and if cancelling within 24 hours of the shift, the amount for the housekeeper / cleaners wages as well.

What does it cost to sign up to Top up Talent as a business/accommodation provider?

Signing up to Top up Talent is free. You'll just pay the housekeeper / cleaner direct after the shift as well as a £17.99 matching fee per shift to Top up Talent. Discounts may be available for regular cleaning shifts.
